The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released for the Nintendo Switch and received widespread critical praise. Nintendo has now provided a thorough look at the next sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Producer Eiji Aonuma went through the game for 13 minutes, showcasing the expanded open environment, various new powers, and a limited edition Nintendo Switch system.
In the opening scene of the demo, protagonist Link, who now has luxuriously long hair, rides his horse through the familiar landscape of Hyrule. According to Aounuma, the landscape of Hyrule has shifted, and several islands may now be seen in the sky.
One of the most eye-catching improvements showed off today was Link’s new Fuse ability, which allows him to forge weapons out of commonplace items like logs and rocks. Seeing Aonuma forge a homing arrow out of a monster eyeball and an arrow on the fly was an interesting example of his outstanding weaponry-making skills. Nevertheless, Link’s stick swords shatter after only a handful of swipes, bringing back the divisive system of weapon degradation from Breath of the Wild.
